A Foo Fighter’s Democratic Disillusionment

Posted on March 10th, 2010 by Erikka Yancy | 587 Comments →

Health care, the housing crisis, the economy, education, expanding and expensive wars — young people, Progressives and Democrats just like you and me turned out in droves in 2006 to vote Democrats into office to start making steps to change the direction in which the country was headed. November 4, 2008 felt like the end of a very long engagement, we could see change coming. You weren’t the only one that was disappointed when, like Godot, it never arrived.

Chris Shiflett, best known as the lead guitarist for the Foo Fighters, sits down for a conversation with Brave New Foundation’s Christopher Sprinkle to talk politics, rock and roll and what it’s going to take to get real action from the Dems.

Don’t be left out of the Conversation: if you can’t make the taping join our Facebook page for exclusive pictures and updates from the taping.

Billy Bragg: Say NO to Banker Bonuses

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin | 6,118 Comments →

British singer Billy Bragg joined us for a Brave New Conversation about his music and his activism. The episode will be released soon, but in the meantime Billy is continuing to do what he does best: take action! He’s withholding his taxes in protest of the excessive bonuses (£1.5 billion!) Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) will give its bankers — after being given billions of taxpayer money in bail outs!

Now Billy needs your help. He’s created a Facebook group, NoBonus4RBS, to get the word out. Here’s Billy in his own words explaining why you should help:

A Conversation with Moby

When you think of politically-minded Christian activists, do words like Conservative and right-wing come to mind?

With his rock-star status, long-time support of Move On and his very public faith, musician Moby shatters those preconceived notions.

On January 25th, the Grammy-winning musician joins us in our studio to discuss his politics, his music, the social issues that matter to him and more with Brave New Foundation associate producer Crystal Page.

What would you like to hear Moby and Crystal talk about? Let us know in the comments below!
